존 레전드를 얼핏 보고 아는 척 하는 사람들이 막 내뱉듯 흑인 소울이라고 얘기하고 싶지 않다. 
존 레전드는 장르나 수식어가 아니라 이름이 고유명사니까.

난 싱글보다 앨범 듣는걸 좋아한다. 싱글과 다르게 앨범에는 아티스트가 의도한 흐름이 있다. 물론 그 의도한 바를 해석하는 것은 나의 마음상태에 따라 달라지지만 그게 앨범을 듣는 재미인 것 같다.

피아노 소리가 간결하고 명료해서
목소리가 군더더기 없어서
가사가 담백해서
앨범 순서대로 듣다보면 듣기 좋은 이유, 추천하고 싶은 이유가 수도 없이 늘어나지만
결국엔 존 레전드라서 좋다는 결론이 난다.
